GoodNest

Savings gifts for kids, from the people who love them

Build your child’s future with everyone who loves them.

GoodNest gives your child one simple page where grandparents, aunts, uncles, godparents and friends can give toward the dreams you have for them — a first home, an education, a real start in life — and leave a letter for them to open when they’re grown.

GoodNest hasn’t officially launched yet. You can look around, but please don’t sign up or send a gift just yet.

  • Free for families
  • Gifts go straight to you
  • Nothing for family to download

How it works

Simple for you. Simple for everyone who gives.

  1. Tell us about your child

Their first name, a storybook picture, and, if you like, one line about your dream for them. It takes about a minute.

“A home of their own someday, for the family they will build.”
  2. Share one link with family

Text it, email it, or add it to a birthday invitation. We write the message for you, so it never feels like asking for money.

    goodnest.app/c/gianna-k8f1m9pq
  3. It goes straight to you

Once, or again whenever they like. Every gift comes straight to you by Zelle, Venmo or PayPal, to save for your child, and we help you say thank you.

The dream

It starts with a dream for your child.

Maybe it’s a home of their own someday. College, a trade, or the freedom to chase something bigger. Every parent carries a picture of the life they hope their child will have.

GoodNest puts that dream at the top of your child’s page, in your own words, so everyone who opens the link knows exactly what they’re helping to build.

You’re not asking for money. You’re inviting the people who love your child to be part of their story.

  • A home of their own someday, for the family they will build.

  • College, a trade, or a business of their own: whichever path they choose.

  • The head start we never had.

  • Proof, when they are grown, of how many people loved them from the start.

For grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends

They already want to help. Now there’s an easy way.

Grandparents want to be part of your child’s future, not just their birthdays. So do the aunts, uncles, godparents and old friends who love them. But asking family for money feels awkward, and a bank transfer feels cold.

GoodNest does the asking for you, warmly. You send one link. They open it, see your dream for your child, choose an amount, and send it straight to you with the Zelle, Venmo or PayPal they already have. No account, no new app, no password.

They can give once, or come back and give again whenever they like, and be part of every year of your child’s life.

The time capsule

A letter from Grandpa, waiting for them at eighteen.

Anyone can leave your child a letter, a voice message or a short video, on its own or along with a gift, sealed until they turn eighteen.

You read it first. Then it waits: Grandpa’s voice, an aunt’s advice, a story from the day they were born. It opens when your child is old enough to understand how loved they were from the very beginning.

  • Write a letterWords for when they’re grown
  • Record a voice messageA voice they can keep
  • Film a short videoA moment, saved for later

You can download the whole time capsule any time, and nothing in it needs GoodNest to open.

Why GoodNest exists

Built by a dad, for a dream.

When I look at my daughter, I think about her future. I picture her grown, with a family of her own, and I want her to be able to afford a home for them. That dream is why I built GoodNest.

This was never meant to be a finance app. It’s for the people who look at a child they love (a daughter, a grandson, a niece, a friend’s little one) and want to be a real part of that child’s future.

It’s built on love. I hope it helps you build something wonderful.

— Ryan, founder of GoodNest, and a dad

Built for the long run

From the day they’re born to the day they’re grown.

A baby registry is over after the shower. Your child’s GoodNest link is meant to last until their letter opens. The same link works for every birthday and every holiday, and on any ordinary day a grandparent thinks of your child and wants to give.

  1. 0

    Born

Grandma sends $25 and comes back to give again every month. Your sister records a video in the hospital waiting room.

  2. 4

    Four

Aunts, uncles and friends add to it on birthdays and holidays, all through the same link.

  3. 11

    Eleven

The savings keep growing, and a dozen letters are already sealed away for later.

  4. 18

    Eighteen

A real start in life is waiting. And the time capsule opens, full of the voices of everyone who loved them from the start.

Your money, your choice

Every gift goes straight to your family.

GoodNest isn’t a bank, and your money never passes through us. Family send gifts straight to you, with the Zelle, Venmo or PayPal you already use. From there, you move them wherever they’ll grow best for your child: a 529 college plan, a savings account, or a child’s investment account. Your dashboard shows when gifts you’ve marked as arrived haven’t been moved to savings yet.

  • Nothing taken out. GoodNest adds no fee and takes nothing. Zelle is free; Venmo and PayPal are free from a bank or balance, and can charge the sender for a credit card.
  • Nothing to set up. Add your Zelle, Venmo or PayPal and your child’s page is ready. No bank forms, no ID checks.
  • Easy for givers. Give once, or come back and give again whenever they like.

And if GoodNest ever closed: we never held the money, you can download every letter, voice message and video any time, and you’d get at least ninety days’ notice first.

Private by design

Your child’s page stays private.

There’s never a photo of your child on the giving page. Instead, you pick a storybook picture: a fox, a bear, a little rocket. The link can’t be guessed and is hidden from search engines, so only the people you send it to ever see it.

Want to share real photos with the people who give? You can send them a postcard, privately, on their own page and nowhere else.

Questions

Common questions.

What is GoodNest, in a sentence?+

A simple page for your child where family and friends can give toward their future, once or whenever they like, and leave a letter or message for them to open when they grow up. The money goes straight to you, and you save it however you choose.

How do I ask family without it feeling awkward?+

That is what GoodNest is for. Your child’s page does the explaining, with your dream for them right at the top, and we write a warm message for you to send along with the link. There’s never any pressure and no wrong amount. Most family are glad to be asked: they want to be part of your child’s future, and this gives them a way that feels personal.

Does a grandparent need an account or an app?+

No. They open the link, choose an amount, and send it to you with the Zelle, Venmo or PayPal they already have; the page opens it for them with the amount filled in. They can come back and give again whenever they like. No password and no phone call.

What can the money be used for?+

Whatever you and your child need it for. GoodNest never holds, invests or chooses where the money goes: family send it straight to you by Zelle, Venmo or PayPal, and from there many families move it into a 529 college plan, a savings account, or a child’s investment account. Your dashboard shows when gifts you’ve marked as arrived haven’t been moved to savings yet.

Is GoodNest a bank, or an investment account?+

No. GoodNest is the page and the link. Gifts go straight from your family to you, by Zelle, Venmo or PayPal, and never pass through us. We never hold, invest or move the money.

What does it cost?+

Nothing, for your family or for the people who give: no subscription, no setup fee, and GoodNest adds no fee to a gift and takes nothing from it. Zelle is free; Venmo and PayPal are free from a bank or balance, and can charge the sender for a credit card. Sealed letters and messages are free. The one thing we sell is an optional keepsake book: a print-ready PDF of every note your child has received.

How do I know who gave?+

When someone gives, they tell us on your child’s page and we let you know straight away. We can’t see the money itself, so once it lands you tap “It arrived — say thank you”, and that one tap puts it in your child’s record and opens a thank-you already written. A check at a party or cash in a card can be added the same way.

Who can see my child’s page?+

Only the people you send the link to. The address can’t be guessed, it’s hidden from search engines, and there’s never a photo of your child on it. Your child appears as a storybook picture you choose. The one line you write about your dream for them is shown on the page and in the link preview, so keep it to a hope, never their school or street.

Can I send photos of my child to the people who give?+

Yes, and only to them. A postcard (a few words and up to four photos) appears on the private page of each person who has given, and nowhere else. Photos are stripped of location data on your phone before they’re uploaded. You can hide anyone, or take a postcard back, at any time.

Who can see the sealed letters and messages?+

You read every message first and approve it before it’s sealed. After that, nobody opens it until the birthday you chose: eighteen, or later if you like, up to twenty-five. Once a message is sealed, you can move that birthday later, never earlier, and every sealed message moves with it. You can name a custodian, someone who knows what’s being kept and when it opens, but never sees what’s inside.

Can I keep my own copy of everything?+

Yes. You can download the whole time capsule any time as a simple zip file, with letters as text and recordings as they arrived. Nothing in it needs GoodNest to open.

What if something happens to me before it opens?+

You can name a custodian, a second keeper for the time capsule. They get an email and a page of their own showing what’s being kept and when it opens, never what’s in it. If they ever need to claim it, they talk to a real person at GoodNest, on purpose, so that no email link on its own can ever take over a child’s time capsule.

Their future is better built together.

Set up your child’s page in a minute, share one link, and let everyone who loves them help make their dreams come true.
