GoodNest

Terms

Last updated October 12, 2026.

GoodNest is operated by 143 Labs LLC. In these terms, “GoodNest”, “we” and “us” mean 143 Labs LLC.

What GoodNest is

A page for a child, and a way for the people who love them to put money toward their future. Guests send gifts directly to the child’s parent or guardian, using a payment service the family has chosen (such as Zelle, Venmo or PayPal). GoodNest does not receive, hold, transfer or process that money: the payment is between the guest, the family and that service, under that service’s own terms. We keep a record of the gift once the family confirms it arrived.

We sell one optional extra to families who want it: a keepsake book of the notes a child has received, delivered as a print-ready PDF. It is not required in order to give, and it takes nothing out of a gift. Time capsule messages are free.

What GoodNest is not

We are not a bank, a broker, a custodian, or an investment adviser. Contributions are not deposited into a 529 plan, a custodial brokerage account, or any other account by us. Money reaches the parent, and what happens next is entirely their decision. Nothing on this site is investment advice, and no contribution is invested, insured, or guaranteed to grow.

A family can tell us where they intend to keep their child’s savings, and we will remind them when an amount is sitting unmoved. That is a label on a reminder. We have no access to that account, we never transfer anything into it, and we cannot see whether they did. Any projected figure we show is arithmetic on an assumed rate of growth — an illustration, not a forecast, and not a promise.

Fees

GoodNest charges nothing for a gift and takes nothing from one. Because gifts go directly from a guest to a family, any fee is set by the payment service the guest uses, not by us; Zelle, and Venmo and PayPal from a bank account or balance, are normally free for personal payments. The keepsake book, a print-ready PDF, is an optional paid extra, priced separately and plainly, and is the only thing GoodNest charges for.

Monthly reminders

A guest can ask us to email them a reminder each month to give again. A reminder is only a reminder: nothing is ever charged, and a guest sends any gift themselves. Every reminder contains a link to stop it, and they can be stopped at any time from the guest’s own page, with no account and no password.

Time capsule messages

A time capsule message is free. A voice or video message can be up to one minute long. We keep every message sealed until the child’s unlock date. That is the birthday the family chose: the eighteenth, unless they chose a later one, up to the twenty-fifth. After a message is sealed, the family can move that birthday later, and every sealed message moves with it, yours included. They cannot move it earlier. A message that has already opened stays open.

Every message is reviewed by the child’s parent or guardian before it is sealed. They can decline it, in which case it is deleted and the gift itself is unaffected. Once sealed, a message is not shown to anyone on GoodNest until the unlock date. A person at GoodNest looks at one message only to answer a report or a legal order, or a match if a check we may run finds one. There are two further exceptions. The child’s parent or guardian can download the family’s own copy of the capsule at any time, and that copy includes sealed messages. And if a letter includes a story about something the writer owns, the parent or guardian can see the short title the writer gave it.

We will delete a message on request from the family or from whoever left it. If GoodNest ever shuts down we will give at least ninety days’ notice and a way to download everything first. Our commitments about how capsules are stored and deleted are set out in the privacy policy.

Stories about belongings

A letter in the time capsule can include a story about something the writer owns, a picture of it, and a hope about where it ends up one day. That is all it is. Writing it here does not give anyone the item or any right to it, does not change who owns it, and is not a will, a codicil, a list that a will refers to, a gift or a promise. The writer can change their mind at any time, and can ask us to delete the letter.

The child’s parent or guardian reads the letter before it is sealed, as with every message. Keeping it is a check that the letter is right for the child. It is not an acceptance of anything, for the child or for anyone else. After the letter is sealed, the parent or guardian can still see the short title the writer gave the item.

GoodNest does not hold, value, insure, store or pass on anyone’s belongings. We do not check who owns what, we do not check whether a writer is living, and we do not tell anyone about a story except as these terms and the privacy policy describe. What happens to a person’s belongings is decided by their will, or by the law where they lived, and never by anything written here. GoodNest is not a law firm, and nothing on this site is legal advice.

Postcards

A parent — and only a parent, signed in, and only about a child in their own care — can send a postcard: a short note and up to four photos. It is shown only to people who have already given to that child, on the personal page each of them already has a link to. It never appears on the giving link, in a link preview, in a search result, or inside an email.

A parent can take a postcard back at any time, which deletes the files themselves (cloud storage keeps a short-lived copy before purging them for good), and can hide their child from any individual giver — which applies to every postcard already sent, not only to later ones. Anyone who can see a postcard can save the picture, exactly as they could with a photo sent in a text message; we do not pretend otherwise, and you should send accordingly. How postcards are stored and deleted is set out in the privacy policy.

What you may not upload

These rules apply to everything anyone puts into GoodNest — postcards, time capsule messages, notes with a gift, and the names people choose. You may not upload or send:

Pictures and recordings of the child a page is for are welcome from the people who love them. That child’s parent or guardian sees every guest message before it is kept.

We do not read, watch or browse what people leave here. A family’s pictures and a grandparent’s letter are not ours to look through. Three things are different. We check the kind of file, its size, hidden location data, and links. We may use automated checks that compare a file with lists, kept by child-protection groups, of images already known to be illegal, and with lists of known harmful files. That would be matching, not looking, and a person would see a file only if there was a match. No such comparison is connected today. And if someone reports something, or the law requires it, a person at GoodNest will look at that one thing. If something here breaks these rules, use the Report link beside it, or write to [email protected] and tell us which page or message. If it is an intimate picture of you, see Image removal requests. When something breaks these rules we remove it, we may close the account responsible without notice, and we make any report the law requires. The content policy says the same thing in plainer words.

Agreeing

By making a page, or leaving a message, a recording or a picture, you agree to these terms and to the content policy.

Your words stay yours

What you leave here is still yours. You give GoodNest permission to store it, make safekeeping copies, run the checks described here, show it to the child’s parent or guardian, show it to the child on the unlock date, and print it in the family’s keepsake book. That permission lasts for as long as we hold it.

Removing and refusing

We may remove or refuse any content, pause or close any page or account, and block anyone from GoodNest, when we believe these terms were broken, the law requires it, or someone could be harmed. We will tell the family when we can. We do not owe a refund of a gift, because we never held it.

What we can and cannot promise

Parents and guardians are the first check. They see every guest message before it is kept. We are not required to review what people leave, and we cannot promise to catch everything. When we do review something, that does not make us responsible for the rest.

Telling us about a problem

If something is wrong, write to [email protected] and tell us which page or message. We act on what we are told. We may keep a record of the report.

The law

If we learn of apparent child sexual abuse material, or of an attempt to exploit a child, the law requires us to report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and to keep the material and related records. We will. We answer valid legal process such as a warrant or court order. We may share information without one when we believe someone is in danger of death or serious injury.

Copyright

If you believe something here copies your work, tell us at [email protected] and say where it is. We have not yet registered a copyright agent with the U.S. Copyright Office. When we have, the agent’s name, address, phone number and email will be listed here.

We remove what a valid notice identifies. We close the accounts of people who infringe repeatedly.

Grown-ups only

GoodNest is for adults. You must be 18 or older to make a page or to leave anything here.

Refunds

Gifts go directly from a guest to a family, so GoodNest cannot reverse or refund them; a gift sent to the wrong place, or twice, is a matter for the guest, the family and the payment service they used. If a page turns out not to be real, email [email protected] and we will take it down. Anything you bought from GoodNest itself, such as the keepsake book, can be refunded by writing to the same address.

Your responsibilities as a parent

Availability

GoodNest is in early alpha. We will give notice before shutting anything down, and we will not do it in the middle of an active registry.
